Investigations are underway to find the cause of the crash of the Afriqiyah Airways flight that killed 103 people at Tripoli Airport on 12 May.

The flight recorders have been recovered and sent to analysts to discover why the Airbus A330 aircraft crashed while attempting to land at Tripoli Airport in Libya, according to Reuters.

Libyan Transport Minister Mohammed Ali Zidan has ruled out terrorism.

A ten-year old Dutch boy, the only survivor, is being treated in hospital for multiple fractures.

Libyan newspaper Quryna has reported the pilot radioed the control tower before the crash asking them to alert the emergency services due to a problem with the plane.

Dutch citizens and nationals from Libya, South Africa, Germany, the UK and France were among passengers onboard the aircraft, which was flying from Johannesburg, South Africa.

The plane was carrying 93 passengers and 11 crew members.

The Airbus aircraft had been delivered to the airline in September 2009 and had accumulated approximately 1,600 flight hours from 420 flights.

It is the same model as the Air France Flight 447 aircraft, which crashed into the Atlantic last year under unknown circumstances.
