G500 G600

Transport Canada has approved Pratt & Whitney Canada’s (P&WC) PurePower PW814GA and PW815GA engines for the new Gulfstream G500 and G600 airliners.

Gulfstream selected PurePower engines for the business jets in October 2014.

Under the contract, P&WC will provide Gulfstream with the integrated power plant system (IPPS), which includes engine, nacelle, and thrust reverser systems.

"A 16,000lb-thrust-class powerhouse, the PW800 engine completed more than 3,300 hours of evaluation as part of endurance testing, simulating various aircraft missions."

"They are fully optimised for high-flying, fast, long-range business jets, and share the same proven core technology used in Pratt & Whitney’s award-winning PurePower geared turbofan commercial engines."

The PurePower PW814GA and PW815GA engines feature a single-piece fan, full authority digital engine control (FADEC) system and lightweight, advanced materials.

Claimed to offer double-digit improvement over previous engines, the PW814GA and PW815GA engines set a new ‘green’ engine standard through an advanced TALON X combustor.

Launched in 2014, the Gulfstream G500 and G600 can fly 9,260km at 0.85 Mach or 7,038km at 0.9 Mach, and 11,482km at 0.85 Mach or 8,890km at 0.9 Mach respectively.

The airliners can accommodate up to 19 passengers, and have cabin altitude of 4,850ft at FL510.
