Snecma Silvercrest

Safran subsidiary Hispano-Suiza is to construct an engine components facility in Poland.

Located near the Hispano-Suiza Polska plant in Aviation Valley, the 8,000m² facility will serve Snecma and Techspace Aero for LEAP and Silvercrest engine programmes respectively.

The plant will feature two production lines for manufacturing low-pressure turbine blades for Snecma and low-pressure compressor spools for Techspace Aero.

Work on the project is expected to be completed at the end of next year and the plant will support the region with more than 100 jobs.

The facility will allow Safran to cater to its customers for new-generation aircraft, including LEAP engine-powered Airbus A320neo, Boeing 737 MAX and Comac C919, and Cessna Citation Longitude and Dassault Aviation Falcon 5X business jets, which are equipped the Silvercrest engines.

Through Hispano-Suiza, Safran has been operating in Poland since 2001 serving aerospace, as well as defence and security industries.

In Poland, Safran has a broad customer base and a supplier base of 30 companies.

Hispano-Suiza produces power transmissions for civil and military fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, and has a workforce of over 500 at its plant in Sedziszow.

In November last year, Safran and Albany International opened facilities in eastern France and US, to produce composite components for the LEAP aircraft engine, including fan blades and cases.

The LEAP engine is produced by CFM International, a joint venture between Safran and General Electric.
