Trent XWB-97

Esterline Advanced Sensors business platform of Esterline Corporation has agreed on an exclusive partnership to supply sensors for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines that power Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

Under the partnership, Esterline Advanced Sensors will be responsible for the integration of the sensors system package for the engine.

Esterline president & CEO Curtis Reusser said: "We’re pleased with the progress we’ve made in the marketplace together with Rolls-Royce on these projects and look forward to continued success from our cooperation."

Esterline Advanced Sensors will develop, manufacture, and supply 30 high-precision pressure, temperature, speed, and torque sensing systems for the XWB-97 programme.

The project will also involve mastering several other important parameters to comply with Rolls-Royce’s environmental and economic standards, including weight reduction, durability of components, as well as enhanced performance throughout the life of the engine.

Esterline Advanced Sensors has collaborated with Rolls-Royce on the Trent XWB engine programme since 2008. It has signed several exclusive partnerships to supply sensors for the complete range of Trent XWB engines that power all current Airbus A350 aircraft variants.

The Trent XWB-97 is the exclusive engine for the Airbus A350-1000 aircraft that will deliver 97,000lb of thrust.

In addition to these Trent engine variants, Esterline has collaborated with Rolls-Royce on other engine programmes including the TP400 turboprop.
