Textron Aviation’s subsidiary Cessna Aircraft has received certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its Citation Sovereign+ business jet.

Last month, the aircraft completed a demonstration tour at the 2014 European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Switzerland.

Cessna Jets vice-president Chris Hearne said: "The Citation Sovereign+ is a great fit for the European market with its non-stop range between London and the United States or the Middle East, and all European city pairs.

"We have a number of European customers ready to take delivery of their aircraft, and with EASA certification we can now get the Sovereign+ into the marketplace."

The Citation Sovereign+ is powered by new Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306D engines with 5907lb of thrust.

It has a range of 5,904km, top speed of 460k and a direct climb to 45,000ft.

The aircraft features Cessna’s Clairity cabin management system, cockpit designed around the Cessna Intrinzic Flight Deck powered by Garmin G5000 avionics, and cabin with a seating configuration for up to 12 passengers.

With the Clairity system, passengers will be able to remain connected in-flight through their smartphones and tablets, and an airborne internet system.

The Citation Sovereign+ also features a workload-reducing auto throttle system which helps streamline the pilots’ tasks, the company said.
